Role
The Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration has a dual role: it welcomes and supports aliens when they move to France, and it assists French nationals and workers when moving outside France. The OFII is a government administrative institution created by the French social cohesion planning act of 18 January 2005. It combines the roles and resources of the Office des Migrations Internationales (OMI) and the Service Social d’Aide aux Emigrants (SSAE).

The OFII takes part in the procedures of introducing legal aliens into France mainly when immigrating for employment or family reunification purposes.

Medical examination.
The OFII conducts the regulatory medical examination of all foreign people authorised to reside in France for more than three months.

Welcome and assistance.
The OFII welcomes legal aliens upon their arrival in France. They are requested to sign the Accommodation and Integration Contract (CAI) which is now compulsory. The Agency is further responsible for specific actions for asylum seekers and family reunification applicants.

The OFII provides assistance to foreigners returning to their home country who are in social difficulty. Subject to certain conditions, the Agency also provides social and financial aid to migrants who have an economic project and who wish to return to their home country

Federal Ministry of the Interior (BM.I)
Immigration matters fall under the competence of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Besides many other tasks in the field of immigration, the Federal Ministry of the Interior particularly serves as authority of appeal in regard of settlement and residence matters.
Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection (Sozialministerium)
The responsibilities of the Federal Ministry for Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection include the areas of social policy, social security, consumer protection, labour legislation, labour protection and labour market policy. Therefore, the Sozialministerium is also the highest authority regarding labour migration.
Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMeiA)
In many cases the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs is the first contact point on migration matters. Our diplomatic and consular missions abroad decide on short term visas. As to questions concerning long-term stay in Austria they provide advice to applicants as well as forward applications to the competent authorities in Austria for further decision.

Public Employment Service
The Public Employment Service (AMS) offers a wide range of services and support for jobseekers and employers. In the area of labour migration, the AMS decides over admission to the labour market according to the Act Governing the Employment of Foreign Nationals (AuslBG). The AMS also examines whether the criteria for the grant of a Red-White-Red Card are fulfilled.
Chamber of Labour
The Chamber of Labour represents the interests of 3 million employees and consumers in Austria and co-operates closely with the Austrian Trade Union Federation. Services: Information and advice on different issues such as labour law, social insurance, tax law and consumer protection.
Austrian Federal Economic Chamber
The responsibility of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is to represent the interests of all Austrian businesses, to consult them and to communicate knowledge. The Austrian Chambers of Commerce has about 400.000 member businesses.
Austrian Trade Union Federation
The Austrian Trade Union Federation is an interest group for employees, founded on voluntary membership. Its main tasks are the achievement of the most favourable working-, income- and social conditions. To this purpose the Trade Union Federation negotiates and signs about 520 collective agreements, is involved in shaping the political circumstances and offers a great variety of information and advice to employees.

The Federation of Austrian Industries (IV) is a voluntary body representing the interests of Austrian industries that currently consists of about 3,500 members. Its central goal is to advocate for its members in a targeted and sustainable manner. Besides business and economic matters, migration is one of its core topics.
Austrian Integration Fund
The Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) supports the linguistic, professional and social integration of migrants and recognized refugees through its 5 offices located all over Austria. Furthermore, the Austrian Integration Fund provides, by organizing events and publishing numerous studies, objective information for the receiving society about facts and figures on issues related to integration and migration.
